September – LACK at Stow Festival and Brixton Punk BBQ

August 28, 2015 By Lack Lustre

LACK on the Victoria LineIf you get updates via the LACK Facebook page or Twitter account then you will no doubt have noticed that the three amigos have a couple of special shows coming up at either end of London’s Victoria Line.

September sees LACK appearing at two amazing events Stow Festival in Walthamstow and the final Punk BBQ of the year which is being held at Brixton’s famous Windmill (RIP Roof Dog).

Stow Fest

Stow FestivalEvery year sees Walthamstow taken over by live music for four glorious days and this year is the biggest yet with around 20 venues and over 100 acts!

The LACK lads are overjoyed to be have been invited to play and will be joining four great bands on the evening of Friday 18th September.

The night at Pulse Studios is being headlined by the fabulous Brain Washington who kinda sound like what would’ve happened had Sonic Youth and Mudhoney joined forces in the 60s.

Also on the bill are Them Fools on the Hill, Gunner Who, and The Unmentionables. You know it’s going to be a top night especially as all those shades of rock are yours for £3!

Punk BBQ

punk bbq brixtonThe brainchild of Alex, leader of the amazing London Punk outfit Wonk Unit, these gatherings offer the best of both worlds – al fresco cooking and raucous live music.

The Brixton Windmill has been home of the BBQ get togethers which are held on the last Sunday of the month, September 27th being the final bash of the year so its likely to be a big send off.

The event kicks off at 3pm with the BBQ being lit and alcohol being consumed and food being available from 4pm.

Allowing time for your chargrilled grub to settle, bands start at 5pm with a ‘sensible’ finishing time so that we can all be ready for the week ahead.

More details about these shows, including links and clips of the other bands, can be found over on the Gig page.

Power Lunches? Ash alright!

LACK by Tim Russell

Big up to Ash and Punk Collective for putting on such a successful night on June 13th.

All the bands were extremely talented and, more importantly, friendly and easy going.

For us it was such a breath of fresh air to be sharing a venue where everyone wanted to be there and wanted the night to work. Everyone had done their bit in promoting the show and our glasses and cans are raised especially to Ash who had worked tirelessly for weeks promoting this show.

Even though it was a hot evening in a Dalston basement people turned up and stayed to support all of the bands and, as it should be, all the bands supported one another. Sofia (Sophia?), the engineer on the night also did a cracking job in making us all sound top notch.

We hope that we get invited back as we had a cracking night!

Here’s a vid clip made from some smartphone footage taken by Annette (thanks for that).

bombayWow. Just wow.

I really don’t know where to start with this except – better late than never.

You lovely sLACKers that come and visit us on our Facebook page will already be aware but some of you out there might not.

The thing is…. we’ve built a video for Bombay’s Miles Away.

It’s there for all to see – we just forgot to mention the fact on here.

Have a look and let us know what you think 🙂

Cheers

The debut from LACK – Anthem

March 27, 2015 By Lack Lustre

jay monitorThat’s right sLACKers!

The LACK lads have had a busy 9 months since they formed the metalli-punk ‘n’ roll trio and to mark that fact they’ve only gone and recorded a debut EP.

rob guitar studioThe recordings were sent over to them less than 24hrs ago but they have decided to share them with all of you.

Jay says:

What’s the point in recording something that you feel proud of and then keeping it to yourself? There’s actually a few people out there who care about what we’re doing so at least we can now show them what we’ve been up to”.

Steve drums studio5 tracks in a weekend session isn’t bad going for a band who have been together for less than a year.

How did it all turn out?

Well, have a listen 🙂
